Onboard NAIA: Redefining A Greek Yacht Charter Adventure

Business Enquirer Partner Update | February 2025 | IYC

Your ticket to cruising the crystal-clear waters of Greece this summer is aboard the newly refitted 126’4″ (38.5m) NAIA, offering not only a relaxing luxury yacht charter experience but one for thrill-seekers alike. The Sanlorenzo motor yacht has been turning heads with its refreshed identity thanks to the 2024 refit and adventure-ready personality for those wanting to combine elegance, cutting-edge amenities, and endless opportunities for exploration.

We caught up with the owner to explore how the refit redefined NAIA’s timeless elegance and unique features for a one-of-a-kind experience ideally suited for Greek yacht charters this summer.

Award-Winning Legacy

Initially launched in 2009, the yacht made a big splash in the yachting industry. The Francesco Paszkowski design earned immediate recognition, claiming both the World Superyacht Award for best semi-displacement motor yacht and the best exterior styling.

“She doesn’t look her age, even before the refit,” notes NAIA’s owner, a seasoned charterer and passionate water enthusiast. “If you look at similar yachts from the same era, she has one of the most successful timeless designs.”

Excellence Refreshed

With a strong connection to and love for the ocean, the owner of NAIA wanted to experience something they had never before had on a previous yacht when chartering. This goal led to the comprehensive refit project, guided by the owner’s vision. “As the yacht was originally very minimal, it gave us a huge opportunity to make lots of changes without completely starting from scratch.”

The project brought together an exceptional team. Under the guidance of Sanlorenzo’s style director, Sergio Buttiglierie, and Milanese Garibaldi Architect, NAIA’s interior spaces were reimagined alongside Athens-based architect Aggeliki Makri from AM Design Concept. On the exterior, the teak decking was refreshed, and Seara Maritime performed a complete repaint of the hull and superstructure while taking additional responsibility for various technical upgrades.

Today, NAIA showcases a blend of materials and woods, with neutral tones accented by bold burgundy touches and iconic furniture. Premium finishings from Paola Lenti, Roda, and Deddon create inviting spaces throughout to maximize space and usability. The result? A stylish and elegant design while maintaining a comfortable and relaxed ambiance.

Unmatched Watersport Haven

The adventure truly awaits guests onboard NAIA, with her extensive portfolio of brand-new toys setting her apart from the rest. “NAIA isn’t for show,” emphasizes her owner. “Every detail, from the ambiance to the amenities and toys, reflects what we love about life on the water. NAIA is a yacht where you can eat and drink fantastically, visit remote locations, and spend every moment doing what you love on the water – be it deep sea fishing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, or e-foiling.”

“I started surfing when I was 10 years old, I love kitesurfing, and I am a master scuba diver, while my wife loves fishing and competitive sailing, we always take vacations centered around the water.” Thanks to the family’s strong passion for watersports, guests can enjoy a range of playtime from Jet Skis, wake surfing and boarding, Fliteboards, wing foils, Seabobs, and waterskiing to scuba diving and paddleboarding. Facilitating the fun and action is a Williams tender and the newly added Axopar 37 chase boat.

Alongside her toy list, the combination of NAIA’s strategic position in the Greek islands means guests are never limited by weather or location. “With all the toys we have, you can do anything you want at any location and at any point in time; this was one of my main aims: never to be hindered by weather or location.” When the Greek Meltemi winds blow, guests can experience some of the Mediterranean‘s best kitesurfing conditions. During calmer days, the clear Greek waters become perfect for the likes of scuba diving and wake surfing.

With so many watersports on offer, safety and instruction are front and center onboard, with the professional crew fully versed in watersport instruction. “We want people to not only enjoy the watersports we have onboard but learn new things and be safe doing so.” For 2025, NAIA will be offering specialized kitesurfing and wind foiling trips with guests led by the most experienced trainers.

Modern Connectivity

Beyond adventure, NAIA is packed full of modern conveniences. During the refit project, the yacht’s technology was completely modernized and upgraded, featuring one of the most advanced WiFi networks available. “We invested heavily in technology to ensure our guests can seamlessly blend work and pleasure. Whether in a marina or anchored off a remote island, you will have the connectivity of a modern office.”

From work to pleasure, NAIA has a full catalog of streaming services onboard, complemented by entertainment sound systems. The systems were upgraded with new equipment, mirror TVs, and speakers, all supported by high-speed Stalink connectivity. Each cabin and social space has been carefully designed to ensure functionality and comfort.

“The beauty of a yacht is the opportunity of doing something different, every day, or even every hour, so we wanted to combine a yacht not only full of watersports and toys but also with other pleasures such as relaxing, sunbathing, listening to music, drinking and eating, to easily accessing the sights ashore.”

A New Standard

Accommodating 10 guests in five luxurious cabins, NAIA offers multiple spaces not only for entertainment but also for the ultimate relaxation. Alongside style, comfort has been considered throughout, from the furniture to layouts, such as the small library included in the master cabin. “We must have tested out around 300 sofas to find the perfect ones not only for the yacht to have a visually specific look but also for guests to relax fully; we want people to truly feel at home.”

Furthermore, the yacht’s design blurs the line between indoor and outdoor living, with fold-down balconies, bow area seating, and alfresco dining opportunities, creating a seamless connection with the ocean in complete comfort.

“We want our guests who are investing in NAIA to experience exactly what we would want personally,” concludes the owner. “As the Greek saying goes, we are not putting water into our wine; we want our guests to have the best time onboard.”

Some exciting developments this year are adding to the NAIA experience, from professional and dedicated watersport-focused charters to culinary experiences thanks to the accomplished onboard chef.
