Vikram Solar Limited, one of India’s leading solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers, has joined the ranks of the world’s most sustainability-driven companies after earning a Platinum Medal from EcoVadis, the highest distinction awarded by the globally respected sustainability ratings platform.
Scoring an impressive 84 out of 100, Vikram Solar now ranks in the top 1% of over 130,000 companies evaluated globally, marking a major milestone in its journey toward responsible and ethical manufacturing. The recognition, dated May 13, 2025, also places the company at the top of its sector across all Vikram Solar group entities.
“This recognition validates our belief that sustainability must be central to how a business operates,” said Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar. “From sourcing to delivery, we remain committed to embedding ethical practices and reducing environmental impact across our entire value chain.”
The EcoVadis rating is built on 21 performance indicators across four pillars: Environmental Impact, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. These assessments adhere to global standards such as the UN Global Compact, International Labour Organisation conventions, GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, and ISO 26000.

Receiving the Platinum rating underscores Vikram Solar’s alignment with best-in-class practices in corporate responsibility and sustainable operations, an achievement reserved for only the most progressive organisations.
Headquartered in Kolkata, Vikram Solar has rapidly scaled both its technological capabilities and international presence. As of Fiscal Year 2025, the company operates with a manufacturing capacity of 4.5 GW and exports to 39 countries.
The recognition from EcoVadis adds to a growing list of accolades for Vikram Solar. In 2024, it was named a ‘Top Performer’ by PVEL for PV module reliability and was featured in BloombergNEF’s Tier 1 list of solar module manufacturers for three consecutive quarters.
At a time when ESG standards are under increasing global scrutiny, Vikram Solar’s achievement offers a compelling example of how Indian manufacturers can lead on the world stage by integrating sustainability into core strategy, not just as a compliance metric, but as a catalyst for innovation, trust, and long-term value creation.
As global demand for clean energy rises, companies like Vikram Solar are not only helping to power the world, they are doing so responsibly, and setting a high bar for others to follow.
