Oil Discovery At K 29
Indonesia Energy Corporation has discovered good quality oil during testing operations at its newly drilled K 29 well at the Kruh Block in Sumatra, Indonesia.
The company announced the discovery on September 2, following the completion of drilling and initial testing at the well. K 29 was spudded on July 25, 2026 and has since reached a total depth of 3,378 feet.
The discovery represents a positive development for Indonesia Energy as it continues its planned drilling and production programme across its Indonesian assets.
Encouraging Well Results
One of the most encouraging aspects of the K 29 operation came during the perforation process.
Indonesia Energy reported that the perforation gun used at the well was naturally bleeding and seeping oil from the approved target areas. According to the company, this is typically viewed as a very positive result and had not occurred at previous wells within the Kruh Block.
The result could also allow K 29 to move into natural production without requiring a fracturing procedure.
However, Indonesia Energy will gather further data as production operations begin before determining the full performance of the well. The company expects to gain additional information about K 29 once the production phase gets underway.
Production Expected Within Weeks
Indonesia Energy expects actual production operations at K 29 to commence within the next couple of weeks.
The move towards production gives the company an opportunity to build on the results achieved during the drilling and testing programme, while continuing to develop the wider Kruh Block.
The timing also means the latest Indonesia oil discovery is moving relatively quickly from drilling and testing towards the production stage.
For Indonesia Energy, this provides an important next step in its ongoing exploration and development activities in the country.
Drilling Programme Continues
The company is not stopping with K 29.
Following completion of the drilling operation, the rig used at the well has been mobilised and is now making its way to the WK 5 wellsite.
Drilling at WK 5 forms part of Indonesia Energy’s planned 2026 programme and will allow exploration and development work to continue across the Kruh Block.
Both K 29 and WK 5 are located within the approximately 63,000 acre Kruh Block on the island of Sumatra.
The continued movement of the drilling rig means the company can progress to its next planned well while K 29 moves towards production.
Safe Completion Of K 29
The drilling operation also reached an important operational milestone from a health, safety and environmental perspective.
Indonesia Energy reported that K 29 was drilled with zero lost time injuries and no other environmental, health or safety incidents.
Maintaining a safe drilling operation alongside the successful discovery provides another positive element to the latest update as the company continues its wider programme.
A Positive Step For The Kruh Block
The K 29 result adds momentum to Indonesia Energy’s activities at the Kruh Block, combining an oil discovery with plans to begin production and continued drilling at another wellsite.
The company will now move into the next stage of the K 29 programme, gathering further production data while its drilling operations continue at WK 5.
With activity progressing across both wells, the latest update highlights the ongoing potential of Indonesia Energy’s established oil and gas assets and provides a positive development as the company advances its 2026 programme.
